For nearly four decades, ASD – A Home for Life has stood as a place of hope and permanence for individuals and families impacted by chronic illness and housing insecurity. Today, as the need for safe, sustainable, and service-enriched housing continues to grow, ASD is responding with urgency, vision, and purpose.
With a waiting list of more than 400 individuals and families seeking a place to call home, the need has never been greater. In response, ASD has taken a bold and transformative step forward through the acquisition of two remarkable properties that will expand our mission and deepen our impact across North Texas.
A Bold Vision:Braniff Lofts and Meadow
ASD’s capital campaign is anchored by the transformation of two remarkable properties that will expand access to safe, service-enriched housing across our community.
The historic Braniff International Hostess College, located at 2801 Wycliff Avenue, was built in 1968 as a mid-century modern training and residential facility for Braniff Airways flight attendants. Designed by architect Neal Lacey, the building became an icon of innovation and elegance, featuring classrooms, residential suites, and the famed sunken “Passion Pit” lounge. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021, this landmark will be thoughtfully restored and reimagined as Braniff Lofts—a vibrant residential community where its legacy of purpose and possibility continues through providing stable housing and supportive services.
Complementing this effort is Meadow, a modern facility built in 2018 and ideally located near NorthPark Mall and Presbyterian Hospital. Originally designed to provide care and support services, Meadow offers a strong foundation for conversion into permanent supportive housing. Its contemporary structure and strategic location will allow ASD to create a welcoming, accessible community where residents can live with dignity, stability, and connection to essential resources.
Together, Braniff Lofts and Meadow will create 123 new apartment residences—each one representing safety, stability, and the opportunity to thrive. These communities reflect ASD’s commitment to preserving history, responding to urgent housing needs, and building a future where everyone has a place to call home.
